James Hubenette Obituary

James (Jim) C. Hubenette
Jim Hubenette was born in San Francisco on May 21, 1956 and passed away unexpectedly at home in Newark, CA on July 1, 2013.

Jim was an outdoorsman who was happiest in nature, traveling the world or spending time with family. He cherished his time hiking the John Muir trail with his brother-in-law Gordon, traveling Mexico and Guatemala with his sister Lynne, hiking/camping with friends and exploring the world on a solo multi-country adventure.

Jim graduated from San Jose State with a BS degree in Finance. His career with the Ropers, Majeski law firm began in high school and continued until he became Assistant Controller. Jim left Ropers for a new career working as a finish carpenter where he worked with great artistry on many beautiful homes on the peninsula. He was an avid hiker, tennis player, snow skier, water skier, scuba diver and gardener. He had a lifelong love of working with wood.

Jim was a kind and gentle man who was thoughtful, generous and very independent. He took great care to remember birthdays, share his amazing heirloom tomatoes and help with building cabinets, greenhouses or repair work for family and friends. He built relationships with those he interacted with regularly that many don't take the time to notice. They called him by name at the grocery stores, restaurants and places he frequented.

Jim will be deeply missed by all who knew him. The world is definitely a better place for him having been here. Jim is survived by his parents Robert & Sonya Hubenette and his sisters Lisa Hubenette, Lynne Hubenette, Debbie Schick, Jeanne Kisner and Mary Draga as well as many brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews.

His spirit will be with us forever.

Memorial service will be held at 12 noon on Sunday, July 28th, at the Hilltop Hacienda of the Kennolyn Camp at 8400 Glen Haven Road, Soquel 95073.
