Mark Hopkins
I got to know Mark in junior high at La Entrada. I remember an incident in math class (ok, more than 50 years ago now) in 7th grade. There was a bra being passed around from desk to desk (typical classroom rucus for pre-teens). Somehow the bra ended up in my desk and Mark kindly left me a note "did you keep it? did you wear it?" I got to know even better Mark during Music Drama workshop. I'll never forget him and it's nice to finally be able to put down thoughts about him that I've had for years!
tribute by Sue ForresterMark was larger than life - 6'4" and my beloved boyfriend. He loved life, sports, coaching and music. Mark was so funny during Sophomore year in Drivers Ed class. He wanted to get my attention by shoving all the desks up to the board - my seat was the 1st desk, I guess it worked. Senior year we started dating, me a Varsity Cheerleader and Mark #60 Varsity Football, then discus thrower on Track. Always the romantic, Mark sent me a rose for 7 days until Prom. People thought he was joking when Mark told them his name. "Do you own the hotel in San Francisco?" We went to many Day On The Green concerts @ Oakland Coliseum and Frost Amphitheater. Several of us worked at Edy's ice cream parlor. Mark's step Dad owned the place and Mark was often in charge of the store-l got free Hot Fudge Sundaes. He had a huge smile and anyone that knew Mark had a friend for life. I miss my friend, but I know he's hanging with "The Gang" listening to Steve Miller..Keep On A Rockin' Me Baby". Love you...Kathy
